Privacy
What this website collects, what it does not, and whom to ask.
This is the website of a small parish. We keep it simple, and we keep very little.
What we collect
Visitor counts. We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. Google sets a cookie for this and receives your general location and the pages you view. We do not see your name, and we do not tie the numbers to any person. If your browser blocks analytics cookies, the site works exactly the same.
Messages you send us. The form on the Visit page asks for your name, your email, a message, and, if you like, how you found us. Before it is sent, a small check from Cloudflare (called Turnstile) confirms that a person and not a program is filling it in; Cloudflare sees your browser's connection details for that moment and nothing you typed. Your note is then kept in the parish's own database (hosted for us by Supabase) and delivered to the parish through Netlify, the company that hosts this site. What we keep is your name, your email, your message, and your answer to "how you found us," along with a note that the check passed. We use it to answer you, and the "how you found us" answer to learn which of our efforts reach people. We never sell, rent, or pass it on; the only other hands it passes through are the companies named below that store and deliver it for us.
We keep visitor notes as the parish's continuing record. If you would like your note deleted, write to welcome@stbarnabasrec.org.
Email. If you write to welcome@stbarnabasrec.org, we keep the conversation the way anyone keeps mail.
What we do not do
There are no accounts to create and no passwords to remember. This website does not display advertising, and we do not sell or trade anything we learn about you.
Other companies on these pages
A few parts of the site are served by other companies, and each has its own privacy practices:
- YouTube plays our sermon and meditation videos. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced player, which does not set tracking cookies until you press play.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces, so your browser requests them from Google.
- PayPal handles online giving. Your gift is made on PayPal's site, and we never see your card or bank details.
- Google Maps draws the small map on the Visit page, so Google's map server is contacted when that page opens, and Google Maps opens when you ask for directions.
- Netlify hosts the site and, like any web host, sees the ordinary connection details of each request. Supabase hosts the parish's database, which supplies the Sunday readings on the homepage and keeps the notes sent through the Visit form.
Children
This site is written for adults planning a visit. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child.
